My son’s second grade class read my book, The
Dinosaur Farm, at school last month. I
was told that they enjoyed it so much that they all wanted a copy, but didn't know how to get one. I was so just thrilled that they enjoyed it. I was actually a bit uneasy when I learned they would be reading it. What if they hated it? I wouldn't want to my son to be embarrassed about it, or teased. But they loved it. So
I sent in twenty copies of my book to school with my son today, one for each of his classmates. When he got home this afternoon, I couldn't believe what he had for me. It was a
large manila folder filled with handmade thank you cards from the class. They were all very creative, and each
detailed their favorite part of the book.
Not only that, but the weekly school newsletter came out today also. And on the front page was a photo of my son’s
class holding up the copies of the book.
Alongside the photo was a big thank you from the class. Though it might seem silly, and though I didn't make a dime in book sales, I really feel great about this. The right audience enjoyed one of my
books! Thanks to all the students and
the school. I'm very happy you enjoyed
the book, and keep reading!
